Freebies of the Week! #28

Nothing from Mister Postman this week, but as I was in Boots, I spotted a freebie as I checked my offers on the Advantage Card machine...

Free moisturiser! Free oil-free mattifying lotion.

I'm not usually one to steer away from my beloved Dermalogica Active Moist, but this one will an ideal back up!

Did you spot this freebie this week?

OH! Anyone been watching The Big Reunion?! How good has it been?!

I woke up today with this feeling,
That better things are coming my way

Pay attention to expiration dates!

Originally this post was going to be me gushing about how much I ADORE the Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliners.

Love these! Ivy and violet.
For what it's worth, I do adore them. A lot.

However this post has taken a turn for the negative. Not necessarily towards these particular eyeliners though.

Word of warning:
The following photos aren't disgusting, but if you aren't a fan of eyes, then there's no point in reading on!

Use by dates on pots are there for a reason. Factor in sensitive eyes and you are just asking for trouble.
*ahem* Speaking from experience.

To be honest, the violet one in particular started to smell dodgy. But I kept using them.

My eyes started to dry out a bit. Cracked and peeled. Went a bit red. Were a bit weepy. But I kept using them.

Note the red line? That's the line of my eyeliner from
that day, in red swelling and cracked peely skin instead.

I think when my eye started to swell on a regular basis, I started to notice something. A regular basis being whenever I used these eyeliners in particular! (They swelled up when I used eyeliner in general, but the gel eyeliners in particular; probably due to the application process.)

Nice and swollen there...

So yeah, it hurts. Khol pencils caused a little swelling, but a lot less. This is probably due to the eye already feeling sensitive. The gel eyeliners on the other hand; these are applied using a brush. To get a bolder line, with the drying-out product, I would have to apply a fair amount of product. Just a recipe for pain really.

If you are interested, my eyes have healed since taking these photos. I used Dermalogica Barrier Repair gel on them, when I wasn't picking the skin in fury! The fury is mostly due to having to have eyeshadow free eyes at work for ages! BOO.

Morals of the story:
When products smell, don't blame it on the boyfriend's flatmate's ear stretchers.
Trust your gut and not your eyeliner.
When your eyes are scabby, don't go into denial.

And we'll all be lonely tonight,
And lonely tomorrow

Freebies of the week! #26

I have 5 minutes until this post goes up on the next week again! TYPE FAST ASHLEIGH!!

Right, the toothpaste was probably the only actual freebie this week! I love a teeny tube of toothpaste. SO handy to have.

The Percy & Reed Finishing Polish came with Glamour magazine. (£2) I don't know why I picked this really, I just don't need more hair oil (see last week's post!) and I have no need for more shampoo or conditioner.

The Elemis lip balm came with Cosmo which is £3.60 normally but I had a £2 off voucher from Cosmo on Campus. Which means I got an Elemis lip balm and magazine for £1.60! YAY!

Have you picked any of these magazines for their freebies? I know I do!

I see a tear fall from your eyes.
But did you laugh so hard that you cried?

Dove Nourishing Oil ExprEssential Treatment Conditioner

Would you believe that this was a sample product?! How generous!

This is the Dove Nourishing Oil ExprEssential Treatment Conditioner. It's a beaut.

After your usual shampooing, just use this instead of your normal conditioner. Just leave for a minute then rinse out.

The yellow streak running through the product is the treatment...the magic bit!

I genuinely love this. It smells so good that I end up leaving it on for ages! My hair instantly detangles, feels soft and oh so sleek. After drying my hair, it feels fantastic, genuinely nourished. The smell is amazing! I even felt like I could smell it the next day.

This conditioner can be used every day, but I tended to use it once a week as my hair can get quite greasy and built up, so I don't like to use treatments too often.

Dove Nourishing Oil ExprEssential Treatment Conditioner is available at Superdrug for £3.35 HERE

Have you tried this conditioner?
Can you recommend any treatment conditioners?

You wanna start a personal revolution.
What else you gotta do tonight?

So now I am, writing posts UBER late!

Here are last weeks freebies...none! Only competition wins! Which is nicer I feel.

I won the Ojon hair oil from Gina Bambina from Beauty and Nonsense, in her latest giveaway. Do go check out her blog, it's fab!

I am VERY excited to try these goodies!

Have you won anything recently? Beauty product wins are great!

I don't know about you,
but I'm feeling 22

February Empties

Oh I know, late again. But this week hasn't really gone to plan, as my nearest and dearest will know.

Anyway, moving forward.

EMPTIES!

Facial Skincare

Dermalogica Active Moist
My current moisturiser, ideal for oily skin. Very thin consistency.
Would I repurchase? Unsure, will be asking my Dermalogica lady about what is best for me tomorrow.

Dermalogica Barrier Repair
Normally a product that my Mum uses actually. I used this on my eyelids when they kept drying out! It's actually a water-less moisturiser, which is calming for the skin.
Would I repurchase? No, this is something I don't really need.

Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub
I really enjoyed this! Harsher than the Daily Microfoliant, yet less than St Ives exfoliators. Left my skin feeling great.
Would I repurchase? Maybe!

Vichy Idealia Pro Deep Corrector
This smelt LUSH. Like Chewits.
Would I repurchase? Probably not, it really isn't a product for my skin's needs.

Superdrug Detoxifying Dead Sea Mineral Mask
Possibly my favourite face mask currently! Managed to get 3 generous uses from this pack.
Would I repurchase? Yes!

Hand Creams

Sanctuary Spa Hand Cream
So much love for this cream. Smells amazing. Review HERE if you fancy it.
Would I repurchase? Possibly

Body Shop Hemp Hand Cream
A cult classic? Well it should be. Well known in the equestrian world, best hand cream for dry, bleeding hands.
Would I repurchase? Yes

Make-Up

Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Violet
I love this product, this shade, the consistency...until it dries out. It dries out quickly. Thus, making it difficult to apply, then you paint it onto your lid so hard that the next morning your eyelid swell up and crack.
Would I repurchase? Yeah but I would make sure I used it up quicker

No7 Eyeshadow in Khaki
One of my favourite shades by No7. This lasted ages and was a sample.
Would I repurchase? Did about 3 months ago.

Dr Jart Beauty Balm
Seriously, what's the hype with this?!
Would I repurchase? No

Hair Products

Dove Nourishing Oil ExprEssential Treatment Conditioner
I have so much time for this product. Seriously.
Would I repurchase? YES.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Fresh
No need to go into too much detail here! Prefer the scent on this one, think it is the unisex!
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Misc.

Dove Invisible Dry Compressed Deodorant
It's such a teeny can! Review HERE
Would I repurchase? Maybe

Nivea Daily Essentials Extra Gentle Eye Make Up Remover
It's alright. Kinda hurts my eyes a bit. I'm not that fussed about it really.
Would I repurchase? Maybe

Have you tried any of these products?

Freebies of the week! #24

PERFUMES GALORE!

Well I say galore...I mean two.

Hugo Boss Nuit perfume sample. Just another one of those peel-off thingies. I ADORE this scent so I had to get another sample of it. Read my review HERE if you want!

Also I received a Lacoste sample. I don't want to go into too much detail. This freebie deserves a post of it's own.

Have you tried Hugo Boss Nuit?
