January Empties

Hi everyone! It has passed the 4th of the month which means that I am suitably late enough for my empties post! These past few days of delays are not good for me or my blog!

Body Moisturisers

Soap & Glory Righteous Butter - Travel Size
There's no need for any introductions, we have all tried it!
Would I repurchase? Yes, probably the same travel size though as the smell is strong and my Mum hates it!

 Bath Products

Soap & Glory Flake Away
I really like this, smells great and the different sized scratchy bits feel lovely!
Would I repurchase? Once again, yes but travel sized

Bayliss & Harding Sweet Mandarin and Grapefruit Luxury Shower Creme
Every bloomin' month! Yes I like it, blah blahhh
Would I repurchase? I might have finally run out...not!

Facial Products

Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser
A really sympathetic cleanser! So gentle, you can use it on your eyes. Love it, so good for travel
Would I repurchase? No, it's not the BEST for my skin. It works, but I need something better suited for oil. My Mum has this so I borrow hers if I want some.

Dermalogica Sebum Clearing Masque
Great masque for a good deep cleanse!
Would I repurchase? Possibly

Nivea Pore Refining Day Cream
Nicely moisturing but I don't remember much about it. Will try the others.
Would I repurchase? Need to try my other ones first.

Nivea Express Hydration Primer
I think one sample of this isn't enough to get your head around. Wasn't blown away.
Would I repurchase? Probably not.

Vichy Idealia Pro Deep Corrector
Am using sample number 2 of this now. Review to come
Would I repurchase? Undecided!

Superdrug Energising Peel Off Mask
Not much I can say about it as I had exfoliated first, so the mask stung and I took it off straight away! Will try it again another time!
Would I repurchase? Yes, just to see what the situation is with it!

Make Up

5 x pots of 17 Eye Dazzle
Not strictly empty, just decanted! See my post about it HERE
Would I repurchase? No

Sachet of Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector
I raved about this. Turns out, in daylight, I look terrible in it. REVIEW HERE.
Would I repurchase? No

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in Shade 1 Warm Ivory and Shade 2 Sand
My favourite foundation. Shade 1 is winter and Shade 2 is summer for me! Although I have run out of shade 1 though and am using my spare shade 2 now. Nice...
Would I repurchase? Yes yes yes.

Hair Products

Pantene Pro V 2 min Colour Damage Rescue Masque
I don't have colour damaged hair but I love a hair masque on Tuesdays and this was screaming to be used after I had colour put in my hair. Smells lush and hair feels great after!
Would I repurchase? Potentially, really good product

Misc.

Pocket sized Vaseline
Remember when Vaseline brought these cute pocket versions out? Yeah? I bought this then! Could never get in the bloody thing until recently so I have used it on everything, feet, lips, car keys! (Had a little frozen lock situation.)
Would I repurchase? I have so many of these! Probably not anytime soon!

Seems monthly empties posts are a bit easier to manage! Have you written any empties posts recently? I'd love to read them!

November and December Empties

So once again, two months shoot past! I am getting better at using up all my products, so maybe I might start a once a month empties post? Else these posts are HUGE!

Oh, and this post is VERY photo heavy!

Another note: As these are mostly samples, would I repurchase can also be, would I purchase?

Body Moisturisers

Bottle of Garnier Intensive 7 Days Body Lotion Cocoa Butter - Dry/Rough Skin
I wasn't sure about this because it smells so chocolatey - almost like cake mixture. But obviously it works so well that I don't mind.
Would I repurchase? Yes, if it is on offer, I'm such a tightwad! REVIEW HERE.

FCUK Whipped Bodycream
I have had this so long! It sinks in nicely smells lovely! Orange blossom, shea butter, pomegrante and sweet almond oil.
Would I repurchase? Undecided. It came in a gift set, but if I could find it on its own, then maybe.

 Bath Products

Bayliss & Harding Sweet Mandarin and Grapefruit Luxury Shower Creme
Another one of these. Smells good, everyday luxury.
Would I repurchase? Still have more of these to use!

Face Cleansing Products

Montagne Jeunesse Break Out Mask
It was alright. Didn't blow my mind as such. Smelt good, felt good.
Would I repurchase? Maybe. REVIEW HERE.

Montagne Jeunesse De Clog Pores Strips
I had such high hopes for these but they didn't do anything to my pores. Not happy.
Would I repurchase? No.

Superdrug Energising Peel Off Mask
I bought this randomly and I have mixed views about it. Must do a review.
Would I repurchase? Maybe, I want to try it again I think.

2x Sachets Dermalogica Special Cleansing gel
My normal Dermalogica cleanser. An anti-bacterial cleanser for acne.
Would I repurchase? I have this in a large bottle, it lasts ages!

2x Sachets Dermalogica Sebum Clearing Masque
Recommened for breakout prone skin. Absorbs bad stuff and prevents breakouts. Yeah I'd say so.
Would I repurchase? Maybe not in full sized, but if I could get a small tube, I might.

2x Sachets Dermalogica Precleanse
Love this. So much.
Would I repurchase? If I have any spare cash at the end of the month, I would like to!

2x Sachets Dermalogica Skin Refining Masque
Removes impurities and reduces breakouts. Sounds very similar to the Sebum Clearing Masque. I think these sachets are old!
Would I repurchase? See Sebum Masque!

Sachet Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair
Felt nice, just like an eye cream does.Would need a full size to try it properly, samples just don't give enough away.
Would I repurchase? Maybe

Sachet Nivea Pure & Natural Regenerating Night Cream - All skin types
This smells fantastic and my face feels great the next day.
Would I repurchase? Yes, or a similar product

Sachet Nivea Pure & Natural Moisturising Day Cream - Normal to Combination Skin
A thicker day cream, was ideal for any dry patches.
Would I repurchase? Probably not, I am happy with my current moisturiser.

Boots Deep Cleansing Wipes
Not much to say really, face wipes are face wipes!
Would I repurchase? Probably not, I'm not really sure why I bought them. Makes me lazy!

Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser
Now that I have finished this cleanser, I really miss it! I think my skin prefers it to the Special Cleansing Gel. It foams up less than SCG, which makes face washing less stressful for me.
Would I repurchase? I think I will return to this after I finish my SCG cleanser.

Make Up

Ginvera BB Cream
Not the best colour for a BB cream, nice coverage but I was a bit disappointed. REVIEW HERE.
Would I repurchase? No, it's a bit over my kind of price tag too.

Rimmel London BB Cream
Don't even get me started on this. Just read my thoughts on it. REVIEW HERE.
Would I repurchase? No. Just no.

Sachet of Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream
Good coverage, best shade accuracy I have found so far. REVIEW HERE.
Would I repurchase? Possibly

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Ivy
My favourite eyeliner, love the colour and longevity.
Would I repurchase? Always. Already have a spare anyway.

Hair Products

Salon Size Paul Mitchell Super Strong Daily Conditioner
My favourite conditioner! Takes a while to get through these bottles but are worth it economically, especially considering how particular I am about my hair. Read about my haircare routine HERE if you want to.
Would I repurchase? Received a new bottle for Christmas!

Perfume

Sample of Hugo Boss Nuit Pour Femme
Love this smell so much. I actually kept it in my room for ages just smelling the sample. I gush all about it in this post HERE
Would I repurchase? I don't buy myself perfume and I don't use it as often as I should. If I did buy some for myself, I would like to try this.

I'm actually quite chuffed with myself, to see how I have actually tried new things this month. A lot of Dermalogica it would seem!

Have you been using up any of your products? Send me links to your empties posts, I love reading them!

Rimmel BB Cream

Yesterday I felt like trying something new but was in a rush. So I reached for this sample of Rimmel London BB Cream. I think I got this in a copy of Cosmopolitan. SPF 25, 9 in 1 cream...big BB cream promises once again. I should add that this shade is LIGHT. (A big hint for what is to come...)

I wish this photo could show the consistency better. I squeezed it out the sachet, to find a cream with the colour barely mixed in, with a dark and watery-ness to it.

Here is what it looks like when applied to my face. My neck is the same colour as my face I should add...!

I actually couldn't believe how dark it was! Shade light...well I don't think  that is very accurate. I currently wear the lightest shade of Bobbi Brown foundation, so I am fairly aware of what is a light colouring. This is not it...

Left: Rimmel BB Cream - Shade Light
Right: Bobbi Brown - Shade 1 Warm Ivory

Obviously all products need to be given a fair test, so I left it on whilst I got dressed, tidied up and dried my hair. The colour was still there, looking pretty dark! My quick, time saving idea actually wasted time for me. Gutted. Cue me needing to wash my face all over again, then put my normal make up on! Late to meet boyfriend, feeling paranoid that I was still orange!

So to summarise. This isn't much of a review, maybe more of a warning! This BB cream is darker than you expect! However if you like the orangey look then, you know, go for it...(!)

And isn't it ironic?
Don't you think?

Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream

This is the Ginerva Green Tea Nude Cover BB cream.

There are such big promises.
  • Oil control properties for a natural matte finish
  • Flawless coverage for all skin types
  • All day hydration
  • SPF 30
  • Ultra fine nano texture for an even tone and natural look
The website states, "Enriched with premium Green Tea, Ginseng, Chinese Angelica and Hyaluronic Acid, Green Tea Nude Cover BB cream provides the benefits of blemish free concealing, sun block effects, whitening, moisturising and reduction of lines, providing a long lasting smooth and ultra light feel to nourish and perfect your skin."

After reading this, I felt the need to do this test properly.

Cleanse, tone, moisturise. CHECK.

My weapons of choice.

Under eyes concealed. CHECK. (Natural Collection Concealer)

Spots covered. CHECK. (Bobbi Brown Concealer)

All covered up.

Then I put the BB Cream on my hand. The colour looked a bit dark for my winter complexion. (my tan has faded!) Actually it's not a nice colour at all initially. Then I put it on my face.

Well. I thought I was wiping dirt coloured liquid on my face. The colour came out so badly wrong for me, it didn't look natural. I wish the photo could show the colour better.

After my initial shock, the colour calmed down. It looked normal. To be fair, the consistency is lovely and the coverage is great. My wrinkles haven't been made more obvious either. Now it has sunk in, it isn't as bad. My powder has gone on top of it nicely, so the dark colour has calmed down a bit. It smells nice too.

Compared to other foundations and BB creams I have tried, this is a pricey alternative. But, if you have slightly darker skin compared to my pale winteryness, then it could be an excellent alternative. The SPF 30 is an excellent idea; technologically it is a fantastic BB cream.

Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream can be bought from Harvey Nichols or here

I'd go wherever you will go.

Distraction time! BB? BB.

So time for some distraction whilst I am in limbo.

Today it's all about the BB cream.

Now I have never understood the attraction or the excitement about BB creams. All I hear about them is how amazing they are, which isn't particularly helpful, I have to say.

As Cosmo has informed me that is is basically "a wonder cream." It covers blemishes and redness, evens out complexions, can be used as a primer for makeup, moisturise and brighten! Blimey!

I've even spied a Bobbi Brown BB with SPF 35. Now that is clever. But the price tag is a little bit...ouch?!

It may just be me, but all these promises and adverts were making me doubt these products. A miracle cream; yeah right. Even when I understood what it was, I didn't know how to apply the damn product!

After reading many blogs, I learnt that it could be applied as a tinted moisturiser, or as foundation. So it was rude not to give it a test, as there are many sachets of it in my glorious Storage Glossy Box of Goodies.

So. Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector. Lets be having you.

When I opened the sachet, I thought the product wouldn't have a smell, but I was surprised! A gently flowery smell really helps sell the product in my eyes. After all, I love my foundation, it would need to be an epic product for me to leave my Bobbi Brown.

It was fairly easy to apply the product; I was pleased that it covered a lot of my blemishes, being such a pale shade. I used a brush to apply the product, then put powder and blush on top, ready to go out! I love how fast it is!

This photo does not do the cream justice. It's a really good match.

Before: Dark circles, blemishes, a bit dull

After: Not easy to see but circles are lighter, blemishes covered

When I finished applying the product, I enjoyed how light my face felt and how evenly it covered. My camera is terrible, unfortunately the pictures don't show how good a match the colour of the product was. Three hours later, during a dinner party, I checked my make up to find my skin still visibly brighter and the even coverage remained. The only thing was that I was starting to get a build up of product in the frown line across my forehead and the drag lines from my nose to mouth were starting to appear, but I would expect that because all products do that to me after a while!

Quick make up check! All clear!

However, seeing as it was an informal dinner, I don't think anyone noticed! I was very impressed with this product. I might need more practise at it, but so far so good! If I was to buy it, I reckon it would be perfect for daytime wear, just quick and easy, no worries!

Garnier, you did good. Me likey muchly! Tempted to buy? It is very possible!

This product is also £7.49 in Boots, which I'd say is great value!
