Winter Wonderland

I honestly can't believe I didn't take more photos when I went to Winter Wonderland. Maybe it was because I was taking it all in.

Or maybe it was because I continuously had a beer in my hands. Who knows?

Either way, earlier on this month I spent the afternoon and evening at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, London.

I'm not gonna hide the fact that it is horrendously aimed at tourists who are oblivious to the fact that a fiver for a pint is not cool...however it does have it's moments....

Like Christmas trees everywhere....surrounded in crowds of people, with games and stalls selling anything from leather goods, to baubles, to clothes and toys.

(Note I put leather goods - there may be a post about a gorgeous new Christmas gift which was purchased for me at Winter Wonderland coming soon...)

But what had to be the most spectacular part of the day was the food. More photos would have been taken if the food wasn't immediately demolished. Except for these sliders. Just take those beauties in....

*WARNING* *FOOD PORN*

Perfectly cooked; crispy on the outside, slightly rare inside and oh so juicy, with plenty of bacon, cheese and salad in a brioche bun. A thing of beauty.

Other outstanding foods? The crispy potatoes on sticks - trust me. Pork belly in a bun - I'm pretty sure this was from a large stand in the Barvarian village? - their chips were amazing too. Poffertjes from a stand pretty close to the entrance - the apple sauce ones are a dream.

Obviously there are vast quantities of bratwurst stalls (I'm not a fan) and plenty of lager stands too (Holstein is a good choice)

Honestly, it's expensive and big for tourists. If you're taking children....good luck.

Regardless I had an amazing time and I might go back next year, even if it is just for those sliders!

Has anyone else been to Winter Wonderland this year?

Mollichaff Alfalfa Light

You know how I like to review things that I win?

Here's a slightly different one for you all. It might not apply to Beauty Bloggers but I'd like to think that it fits in with Lifestyle Bloggers?

I am very lucky to own a horse and believe me when I say that being a horse owner is a lifestyle! Unfortunately being at university means that I only get to see her when I go home now, which is once a month. Boo to that.

Regardless, here is my latest review; Mollichaf Alfalfa Light. I won a bag of it with Local Rider Magazine.

This is a fantastic feed for horses; low in sugars, it is basically empty food. Low in calories but will fill them up as if they have eaten a normal dinner, which was ideal over the summer when we wanted them to maintain their normal weight. We wanted them to still have their supplements and they love their dinners, so we reduced the amount of food that they normally have and bulked it out with the alfalfa. It almost looks like straw but isn't!

Alfalfa Light also provides them with slow release energy so it kept them going all day, after all, there's lots of grazing to be done! That's hard work!

It's also great for horses prone to laminitis and becoming overweight.

Needless to say, it went down easily and they wanted more!

On that note, I need to get changed, it's Wednesday afternoon which means one thing...it's time to go riding!

Baby, everything is alright,
Uptight and clear out of sight

Freebies of the week! #22

Edible and beauty freebies this week! Hurrah!

Firstly, I rinsed my Priority Moments this week at Bluewater. Hotel Chocolat were giving away a mini Valentines slab worth £3 and WH Smiths were giving a free box of Thorntons chocolates worth £5. I gave these to Jamie!

Also at Bluewater, I bought more of my Bobbi Brown make up and was given a sample of the Hydrating Face Cream which was kind of the Bobbi Brown ladies. Then I walked downstairs and traded in my voucher at L'Occitane to get a free 30ml handcream, as they reached 75,000 Facebook fans.

Then I bought a copy of Marie Claire to get the free sample of Shiseido Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam. This might be nice to leave in Reading as the only cleanser I have up there is exfoliating. There's also a voucher inside for a free lipstick which I must go and get!

I also received this chocolate beast from being one of the lucky..I dunno how many...on the Aero Facebook page. Pretty relieved that orange arrived...I don't like mint! (Controversial I know!)

I went to Boots earlier this week too to get some razor blades for my Wilkinson Sword Hydrosilk (review HERE if you are interested!) as it came with a £2 off voucher. (I got that for free!) Turns out, Boots were doing a promotion. Free razor with £9.99 with the blades. So now I have two! Woo! I have a sneaking suspicion that there could be another £2 voucher in this pack...I can see a never ending cycle about to occur...

Who else has Valentines chocolates then? Guilt free do you think?!

Seems like lately there's a whole lotta leaving going on...

Freebies of the Week! #19

Hi everyone! Hope you have all managed to get through such a BLAHH week! I know the snow affected lots of people, then we had Blue Monday as well...time to start again eh?!

This week's freebies have been mostly aimed toward Jamie. Which I think is a bit poo.

This is the Redken for Men Clean Brew Shampoo. It has Anti Grit technology apparently. It is an extra cleansing shampoo with malt, brewer's yeast and orange zest, to result in extra clean hair and a balanced scalp. Sounds manly.

I wonder if he will help me write a post about it...hmmm...

Now I am in AWE of these goodies. The Tropical Sun website were giving away food products and I figured it would be a sachet of seasoning...turned out it was a whole jar! I picked some jerk seasoning as I figured that Jamie's spice cupboard would appreciate it. They also sent a friendship bracelet which is such a nice touch...I'll keep that!

Have you tried any of these products? Any ideas on a Jamaican dinner?!

Lindt Lindor Bars

So if you read my post about the Best of 2012 JolieBox, (or anyone else's!) you would know that two Lindt Lindor chocolate bars were included. (If you want to read it anyway, the post is HERE)

Now a post dedicated to a chocolate bar is probably classed as a bit weird. But I like to give opinions on new foods.

These chocolate bars encapsulate everything I like in a product. Everyday luxury.

I wouldn't go out of my way to buy some of those Lindt balls for myself, because they are a gift item. However I could grab this en route to work, when I fancy proper chocolate!

Obviously the balls have that gorgeous pop when you crunch them, then it turns silky, creamy, almost cool?...yummy. I was worried that the bars wouldn't do this.

They do.

Oh gosh, I ate both bars immediately.

Wish I hadn't. I can't find these anywhere. Bad times.

You're sweet like chocolate boy...

Special K Biscuit Moments

Yes I know, a blog post about cereal bars...but I just had to write about these.

A few weeks ago I got these for free from Facebook. I was doubtful because cereal/snack bars can be a bit hit and miss...not enough fruit, not enough topping, too much dull stuff...you know what I mean right?

Also I won blueberry. I only eat blueberry muffins so...once again. Doubtful.

Oh my days. These are MAGIC.

Thin layers of biscuit, sandwiching the perfect amount of berries, then drizzled lightly with vanilla...stuff. 2 of these biscuits are 99 calories.

Now I will admit that the first time I saw them I thought, "corr...stingy much?!" But actually, as a snack, you don't actually need any more. These biscuits are more interesting and taste so good that by the time you finish them, you are actually full.

My problem with cereal bars is that they trick you with the calorie amounts or that the only ones I like have chocolate on them. I don't always want chocolate! Then the ones which have yoghurt on them, have WAY too much. I'm not a fan of overly sweet things, but most cereal bars are either really sweet or really boring.

These biscuit bars have knocked the balance on the head! There's just the right amount of each component, especially with the drizzle. I would definitely pick these over a cereal bar any day.

These biscuit bars come in blueberry or strawberry, with 10 biscuits (in 5 packs) at Asda for £1.98

Hmmm. I want a strawberry one now.

They were sitting, they were sitting in the strawberry swing,And every moment was so precious.

Pop Tarts

A few weeks ago I won a free pack of Pop Tarts on Facebook. I put in all my details and had the voucher sent to me, but I was doubtful. Pop Tarts never really appealed to me, but I figured that if I didn't like them, there would be someone I know who would. So I went to Asda and picked up a pack, along with my other free goodies for the week.

That situation hasn't needed to come around.

The crunch and crumble of the pastry, the crispy sweet icing and the gooey apple and cinnamon filling. Oh these are something special!

As per the Gilmore Girls, I have tried eating these for breakfast. I am not how they manage it because Pop Tarts are just so sweet! But obviously I still managed it...!

Writing this piece whilst eating!

I'd be tempted to try having just one as a snack because I don't think I could manage more than one in between meals. They're just so yummy!

I think next time will have to be Bustin' Berry flavour!

Pop Tarts can be found at Asda from £2.48. Become a fan of Kelloggs on Facebook and get a 50p off coupon too!

Freebies of the Week! #8

Bit of a foodie week for freebies it would seem!

The first two items I won on Facebook and had the vouchers sent to me.

Kelloggs Special K Biscuit Moments in Blueberry flavour and Pop Tarts in Frosted Apple Blast flavour.

I am so excited to try these, food freebies are the greatest thing for me!!

YUM!

The Special K biscuits are worth £1.98 in ASDA and the Pop Tarts were £2.48 in ASDA. Those two products came to £4.46. Man, junk food and good foods are expensive!

I also had a delivery today. I did a survey online and I qualified; the result was two big bags of crisps have been sent for me to try. OH WHAT A SHAME...?! I am eating them now and they are LUSH. I won't post what they look like or anything as I don't want to break any rules. So here's the box and the plain packets, exciting eh...?! Okay maybe not for you but it was for me! I can also re-use the box for Christmas, double yay!

Double yum.

Has anybody else had any yummy treats this week?

I'm losing you,
I'm losing you.
Ain't love the sweetest thing?

Freebies of the week! #3

Well last week wasn't looking very promising...until I went to Bluewater!

Now if you are on O2, it is well worth checking the Priority Moments app regularly, especially when you are in town, as it will come up with deals around you. I got a lot from it on Tuesday!

Firstly, the photo says it all. 4 for free, just for being on O2. Amazing.

Went for Milk chocolate, chocolate orange, chocolate
and toffee and oat & raisin. YUM.

Then we went into the O2 store. Remember a few months ago, people on O2 lost internet signal? (I didn't.) Well everyone received a £10 voucher from O2 to apologise, so Boyfriend and I both got In-Car Suction Holders. Clever little thing, holds any phone! There wasn't really anything else we wanted!

Can't take a picture of my phone in it, as I take the  pictures with my phone!

Now I noticed on the MagicFreebiesUK website that if you bought a copy of The Sunday Telegraph, you could get a free tube of Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish worth £5.50. I've heard about this product on many blogs and heard that it is AMAZING, so I had to get myself a paper. I took my voucher to the John Lewis counter and received this lovely envelope...

Inside was a 30ml tube of the product, a muslin cloth and a card with the instructions for use!

I can't wait to try and review this product, as it has been rated so highly! Will it replace my beloved Dermalogica!?

I thought this was it for the week; then these bad boys arrived!

When I bought a bottle of Southern Comfort from ASDA a few months ago, there was a tag on it, for two free glasses. I thought they'd be little ones, so signed up for them anyway. Technically not a freebie, but I wanted the drink, so I guess they were a bonus. The glasses are nice and tall, with a heavy bottom, perfect for a cheeky SoCo and lemonade! Also in the box was a magnet which is one of those hologram ones, with the measurements for a SoCo & lemonade and a picture of one; a freebie for a freebie!

One of the two glasses

Sorry for awkward angles, holograms aren't easy to photograph!

So I think last week was pretty productive! Very happy bunny I am! (Well, in regard to freebies anyway!)

Freebies of the week! #2

So this weeks freebies were looking pretty dang poor. Until today, I remembered. The voucher code.

Ocado's Facebook page occasionally release voucher codes to get free products. A few weeks ago we received £60 worth of free Dove products! Hence why I keep a look out!

The most recent code was for £16 of free breakfast goods. Today Mister Ocado Man delivered our order with all these free goodies!

Couldn't believe how much there was!

1. Kingsmill 50/50 rolls (these were a substitution for some white rolls)
2. Vogels wholemeal and oat loaf
3. St Pierre Chocolate chiptear and share brioche
4. Waitrose fair-trade bananas
5. Spoiltpig bacon
6. Quaker Oat So Simple variety pack
7. Yeo Valley Organic Top Notch Lemon and Lime Yogurt
8. Tropicana Orange juice with bits - Family size

Bacon rolls and fresh juice for breakfast? Oh okay then! Epic freebie!

There were a few other freebies  again this week. For some reason, Yazzo sent me more bottle coolers! Very odd.

I also won a gorgeous hair slide on the Hair Trade Facebook page! When it arrived I was so excited! I LOVE THIS! Can't wait to wear it!

So overall, the week has been okay for freebies! Woohoo!

Freebies of the Week! #1

This could now be a permanent fixture on my blog; Freebies of the week!

This week seems to be food based....

1. At the top...Robinsons Drinks Cooler

Now I am loving this. Robinsons are putting tags on bottles of their drinks about promotional items. Buy the drink, send off the tag, receipt (plus a cheque of £1.90 to cover postage), then you get this awesome drinks cooler. I'm pretty sure they do other merchandise too, it just depends what tag you have.

We got our squash from Costco too so it was only £1.60 for a huge bottle! Technically it's not a freebie, but it's still pretty damn cool.

Awesome cooler; very excited to use this!

(I cannot confirm whether this will always contain squash. This is now my boyfriend's toy. We are students. This may hold beer or cocktails at some point. It will normally hold squash though.)

2. Bottom right...Yorkie

Yorkie's Facebook page have been giving away these Yorkie bars! Woohoo!

Yes I am aware that they are not for girls....

3. Yazoo goodies

Somebody commented on the MagicFreebiesUK Facebook page that Yazoo had a deal where if you emailed them with your details, they would send out these goodies. I think they found it in a Tesco magazine. They sent out a 30p off coupon and two bottle covers for bottles of Yazoo, which are rather funky! These may persuade me to start drinking milkshake more often!

Funky little things huh?!

Very excited about all these goodies! YAY!
